The assignment is to transcribe a documentary film for closed caption subtitles.
Each video clip is around ten minutes in length.

You will be using online software to watch the clip and build the list of subtitles.

On the thread details page there will be a link to a movie clip. Transcribe the clip with proper time intervals suitable for closed captions. If there is music or other non-verbal audio on the track, describe it inside brackets (e.g. [hands clapping])

IMPORTANT: In order to see and edit the subtitles, you need to start by using the timecode on player timeline and NOT the burned in timecode on the screen. Threre are keyboard shortcuts which can be found in the HELP menu of subtitle-horse. You can then export them when you are done and paste the SRT format into a text file with the suffix .srt

However, we ultimately need the Timecode burned into the image and NOT the time showing on player. For example, your clip may start at 00:20:05:04 and not 00:00:00:00 as indicated on the player timeline.

After you are done with the transcription order to get the subtitles to match the time-code, you can upload that file here

and enter the number of SECONDS to offset (meaning the timecode displayed in the first frame i.e. 50:08:02 equals 3008 seconds to offset)

You should never have more than 3 lines of subtitles on screen at the same time (2 is preferred) and try not to have more than 45 characters per line.
NOTE: Very important!
Make the breaks at logical locations depending on the rhythm of the images and narrator.
They should keep pace with the narration but be onscreen long enough for an average person to read.

Please spell check your transcription for accuracy and use proper punctuation. Do not use all capitals. Use normal punctuation.

When you have completed the transcription using the Subtitle Horse tool, export it in SRT format (tip: Internet Explorer seems to work a bit better with this tool). You can copy all the SRT formatted subtitles into a text file or just past them into the submission form.
